Oct 22, 2018· 03/31/2021 10/22/2018. The symptoms of a bad mass air flow sensor include low engine power, poor fuel economy, an engine that won’t start, a check engine light on the dash and a gas smell from the exhaust fumes. A bad mass air flow sensor is often the likely culprit if your car isn’t running as it should. The job of the mass air flow sensor ...
Mar 13, 2021· Allow 1 hour or longer for the sensor to air dry before you reinstall. Be sure it dries completely otherwise the fluid can damage your engine. 3. MAF Sensor Cleaning Sprays. Obtain a special MAF cleaner or electrical component cleaner from an auto parts or electronics store. Lay a clean towel on a work surface and place the sensor on the towel.
Aug 07, 2021· Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaning Service . How to Service Clean a Mass Air Flow Sensor. A mass air flow sensor (MAF) is used to measure the air flow that enters the engine at any given RPM range and is monitored by the vehicle''s computer to make adjustments to the fuel delivery and ignition timing.
Mar 08, 2019· My sister''s ''01 L was showing a check engine light with four emissions codes, including P0174. The other codes will be covered in a different post as they were related to the catalyst/oxygen sensors. This post shows a common fix to clear the P0174 by simply cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF).
Jul 04, 2014· P0102: is for the Mass Air Flow sensor. Check the wiring. You can try cleaning MAF sensor, but if that doesn’t work, then you probably need a new MAF sensor. Also check for leaks in the intake duct the timing first and clear codes and see if this code comes back.
The mass air flow cleaner only costs about 7! We recommend that you clean the MAF sensor every time you change your air filter. Here’s how: Before going to the store, pull off the air duct between the air filter box and the throttle body to see how the MAF sensor is anchored. If you see Torx screws, buy a Torx tool and a can of CRC Mass Air ...
Nov 23, 2014· hi 2002 chevy s 10 pickup L ZR2 loosing performance when driving up to hill .check engine light shows P0101 code .so i replace mass air flow sensor check engine light com off soon i replace MAF sensor. so i take my truck for a test an highway drive 60 mph up the hill and the truck loosing power again so i step an the acceleration and truck was slowing down to …
Dec 16, 2017· Quick test to tell if Mass Air Flow Sensor is bad or dirty which could be causing your car or truck to run bad or keep cutting off.
Jun 07, 2009· Alright, enough of the and let''s get started with the actual step by step cleaning of the GM mass air flow (MAF) sensor (Buick, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and GMC models). Step 1: Remove The MAF Sensor From Vehicle. Remove the mass air flow sensor from the car or truck. Once off, your MAF sensor should look like the one in the photo.
Clean the Sensor. Place the sensor on a towel for cleaning. Apply the cleaner — 1015 blasts around the inside of the sensor will do. Also clean the sides of the part, its housing, its connectors, and its terminals. If you have a hot wire mass air flow sensor, make sure the cleaner doesn’t get onto the hot wires or plate.
Feb 22, 2021· The mass airflow sensor is a key sensor in your car. Your car has a lot of sensors, and this is just one that helps your car run properly. That brings up the question of can your car run without the mass air flow sensor? In this article, we will look at what happens when you disconnect the mass airflow sensor.
Aug 04, 2007· First: Disconnect the Air Intake hose from the Mass Air Flow Sensor and disconnect the main harness wire from the sensor unit. (Sensor Circled in red) Second: Remove the Mass Air Flow Sensor and examine it so that you know how it goes together and how it looked before removing the honey comb mesh that restricts air flow.
Feb 18, 2008· It also had a tune up not to long ago with plugs, plug wires, cap and button. If it is in neutral or under heavy accel it wont do it. Just the other day i got tired of it and unplugged the mass air flow and the sensing sensor in front of it, to see if it would effect it.
Jan 08, 2016· Mass Airflow Sensors (MAF) have the responsibility of reporting the amount of air entering the engine to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM uses this input to calculate engine load. There are several designs of MAF sensors, but the most common by far is the hot wire MAF sensor. The hot wire MAF has two sensing wires.
Sep 15, 2012· PO171 and PO174 for 1998 GMC Jimmy help. I have did the following changes. inspected for lose hoses and wholes and leaks. I took it too mechanic and they told me I needed now mass air flow sensor and fuel injection cleaning. After doing there recommendations I still get check engine light with PO171 and PO174.
Aug 06, 2019· The mass airflow sensor (commonly abbreviated to MAF) is one of the most important engine management sensors. A bad mass airflow sensor can leave your Chevy Silverado’s engine running rough, or even inoperable.. A MAF sensor measures the density of the air entering the intake manifold.
Jun 10, 2015· The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is in charge of keeping track of the amount of air going to your engine. When the sensor gets dirty or clogged, bad things start to happen. You''ll notice a rougher idle at first, but then you''ll start having bigger problems like the engine misfiring.
The mass air flow (MAF) sensor, part of your vehicle’s electronic fuel injection system, is responsible for calculating the total amount of air entering the engine. A faulty MAF sensor can cause your vehicle to run too rich or run too lean. You’ll notice if the tailpipes eject black smoke or when the engine runs rough or backfires.
Feb 18, 2011· hi, i just had the code po101 on my 99 S10 v6. and i purchased a can of CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner from my local auto parts store and it worked great. you just spray the little wires across the poles and spray the screen ,then let it dry for a 1/2 hour or so and then reinstall it. i put mine back in started the truck and the code was gone. hope this helps.
