The MAF sensor simply measures the mass (amount) of air coming into the engine so that the PCM can add the correct amount of fuel. A rule of thumb on a MAF''s air flow rate at 500 rpm is 1 gram per second per liter of engine displacement. It looks like this reading is g/s so was your RPM about 833 or idle?
The mass airflow sensor is the component used for detecting the flow of air that is entering the engine of a car. The airflow sensor collects details to determine the amount of needed fuel. After collecting the information, the details will be sent to the Engine Control Unit.
Jul 09, 2021· Often mass air flow sensor readings are measured at idle, 1,000 RPM, 2,000 RPM and 3,000 RPM. A contaminated or bad air flow sensor will, in most cases, show lower air flow readings than a known good one.
The 50 g/s max flow reading that you are getting is far lower than what merely altitude can explain. The chart above shows that at about 5,200 ft above sea level, the density of air is 83% of what it is at sea level ( lb/ vs. .075 lb/). So to account for the altitude, you should multiply your expected mass flow by
Sep 01, 2014· In answer to your question to 6 is correct MAF reading for warmed up idle, remember it''s calculated PCM looks at IAT and MAS (sensor frequency) to calculate the weight of the air in grams per/sec. If MAF was bad to run 18% lean you MAF would have to be in the range (18% less than normal). Also as stated the MAF results are ...
Oct 05, 2017· My MAF reading on my scan gauge reads .15 at idle and the highest I''ve seen it go is the ''s. I have read that for the Fseries it is supposed to be in the ''s. I am not sure how the van is supposed to run, but I seems like it lacks power.
Dec 03, 2009· OK Iam at work andI need someone that can stay withme for a bit on this 102 maf code its a 2001 Chevy van I have replace maf sensor and it was good for a bit and came back with the 102 code. Our m … read more. I have a "99" S10 pickup and have the codes that the diagnostic reader pulled up.
Aug 22, 2014· Things like idle speed, mechanical condition of engine, valve leakage, piston ring blowby, alternator electrical load, AC load, AT pump load, water pump load, etc. I see numbers from 1215 kg/hr ( gm/sec) on the (3) E39''s and E36 M3 I maintain. Idle speed make a HUGE impact on air flow measurement. Hook up your scanner and rev the engine.
May 31, 2015· A while ago on another forum, a member and I compared MAF flow between his 530 ( grams per second) and my 528 ( g/s) at fully warmed up and at idle. Your car should read somewhere between these numbers.
Apr 15, 2010· "The scan tool reads the MAF value and displays it in grams per second (gm/s). At idle, it should read between 4gm/s 7gm/s on a fully warmed up engine. Values should change rather quickly on acceleration, but values should remain fairly stable at any given RPM. A failure in the MAF sensor or circuit should set DTC P0101, DTC P0102, or DTC P0103."
May 05, 2010· % VE (Idle VEs are usually 1015%) Density Ratio g/CF Air Density (95degF intake air temp, std atmos pressure) Results in a calculated grams per minute through our theoretical MAF. The MAF sensor reads in grams/second, so divide answer by 60 to convert to grams/seconds.
When I floor it in second gear the maf read 50 g/s. At idle the long term reads between to %. helpful? If it is adding fuel under load check the fuel pump flow rate. At idle the pump is providing adequate flow, at higher rpm it isn''t …

Jan 04, 2012· 436 Posts. 7 · Jan 4, 2012. You need to take a closer look at what the units are for the MAF reading. In 2011 they may have gone to grams per second and your tuner may not have the right units displayed. 40 grams per second (g/s) = pounds per minute (lb/min) This would be a common idle reading.
Oct 09, 2019· At idle, the approximate air flow rate (in g/s) should loosely mirror the size of the engine (measured in liters). For example, if you have a engine, the reading should be close to g/s. As you’ll see in the image below, which is of a Honda engine with a healthy MAF sensor, there’s a reading of g/s at idle.
Apr 30, 2018· So for the turbo at idle, the engine should flow about to /s. A lower value of course could be due to false air or vacuum leak, a higher value could indicate a dirty MAF or airbox air flow issues or even wrong parts in both cases.
Oct 19, 2012· A mass air flow above specifications at idle can be caused by too little exhaust flowing through the EGR valve. Too little exhaust causes more air to be ingested by the engine due to lack of exhaust gas dilution, and the MAF sensor is measuring this increased air flow.
Output signal of MAF, made by BOSCH is a variable voltage in the range 1 5V, whose value depends on the mass of air flow through the sensor. At zero air flow (engine stopped) the sensor output voltage should be equal to …
Sep 26, 2020· A mass air flow sensor measures the air flow coming in. They are SUPER sensitive exspecially for guys that run oiled filters, wich your not. ... A properly working MAF on a healthy truck should show readings of around 2540 g/s at idle and 500 g/s at WOT. 2005 Silverado EC/SB, LLY, 4WD, Edge CTS w/ EGT probe, LML Exhaust Manifold, PPE shimmed ...
engine at idle, the MAF’s PID value should read anywhere from 2 to 7 grams/second (g/s) at idle and rise to between 15 to 25 g/s at 2500 rpm, depending on engine size. Most manufacturers provide specifications for air flow at idle; some will provide specifications at …
Apr 05, 2015· What should the MAF sensor read at idle? Ive heard 40 g/s but mine is reading 3738 ish at idle with an LMM intake on my LLY. I had to modify the LMM intake to fit the lly maf sensor, so I''m not sure if it should read exactly 40g/s or not
Oct 18, 2010· All you need (to diagnose and troubleshoot the MAF sensor) is a digital multimeter capable of reading Hertz (Hz) frequency. This type of GM mass air flow (MAF) sensor is used in a lot of GM makes and models, to find out if this article applies to your specific GM (Cadillac, Chevy, Buick, GMC) vehicle, take a look at the ''Applies To'' list.
