Apr 19, 2015· Not looking for major HP or torque gains, just MPG. Thanks! 2014 Ram 1500 Tradesman/Express Hemi. Click to expand... You don''t have a mass air flow sensor. The hemi''s do, and I believe the v6 does, but the hemi does not. You will notice a definite improvement though. Apr 19, 2015.
Oct 28, 2016· Check engine light indicated mass air flow sensor. Replaced air filter and maf sensor. Problems with vehicle turning off seemed to go away but now I have a rough Idle. Car will drop below 1000 rpms and then rev back up to over 1500 like it wants to shut off. Idle problems seem to go away when maf sensor is disconnected.
Dec 16, 2017· Quick test to tell if Mass Air Flow Sensor is bad or dirty which could be causing your car or truck to run bad or keep cutting off.
Apr 10, 2019· For this all we need is a screwdriver and a can of CRC MAF air flow cleaner or a replacement Denso sensor Crc MAF air flow cleaner is basically a fancier version of brake clean to help protect the very crucial and critical parts that make up your MAF. If you do not use the proper formulation you can easily damage your MAF and will need to replace it.
Jan 15, 2019· Like any other engine sensor, the mass air flow sensor can fail over time. Just like with a headlight light bulb, thousands of hours at operating temperature degrades the internal components. The mass air flow sensor can also get dirty if the engine air filter is not changed on time, which results in the same symptoms as a failed sensor.

A defective Nissan Quest mass airflow sensor could make your car difficult to start. Your ECU uses the mass airflow sensor input to determine the fuel ratio that the injectors need to deliver to the engine. If your check engine light is stillengine light is still on, use an OBD2 scanner to clear any stored codes in the ECU.
Feb 12, 2008· Here is the tsb on replacing the Mass Air flow sensor. You only have to reprogram the computer if necessary. Here is the instructions. See for yourself. 1. Remove the air filter element. Then, vacuum out all dust/dirt/debris …
Jul 09, 2021· The Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) is one of the key components of an electronic fuel injection system in your car. It is installed between the air filter and the intake manifold of the engine. See the diagram. The mass air flow sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine or the air flow. In modern cars, an intake air temperature or IAT ...
Feb 24, 2012· A mass airflow sensor (MAS) determines the mass of air entering a vehicle''s fuel injection engine, and passes that data to the Engine Control Unit, or ECU. The air mass information is necessary for the ECU to correctly balance and deliver the correct amount of fuel to the engine. When a vehicle''s mass airflow sensor is faulty or defective it can cause a variety …
The mass air flow sensor is quite a complex little component of multiport fuel injection systems with a critical role in the performance of your engine. Not only does it work hard, but it’s ...
Of the 2,500,000 filters KN sells a year, they encounter less than 200 dealership problems annually. The representative continued to explain the company''s lengthy product testing process. I work for an automotive company, but I''m not that into my car. I''m more of a motorcycle guy. My point being, I was ready to buy a KN air filter.
Sep 16, 2020· The average MAF sensor replacement cost is between 140 and 550, depending on the car model and labor costs. A Mass Air Flow Sensor costs 100 and 400 while the labor costs 40 to 150. The MAF sensor itself is often quite expensive, as you sometimes have to replace the whole MAF sensor housing.
Dec 24, 2018· I have changed my mass air flow sensor twice with OEM parts, reset the code multiple times, put a new KN air filter in and the light still comes with in 3 or so miles. I have a 2017 Titan XD with the Cummins. I did find a skinned wire that looks like a rodent got it but I soldered it back together so it is solid. Please start your own thread.
Oct 01, 2016· The stock mass airflow sensor is designed for stock tuning (air and fuel flow) and will not automatically recalibrate for additional air flow. Upgraded intakes can lose power with newer cars because most use MAFbased fueling. With a change of pipe size, the fueling is affected, and the factory ECU is calibrated to the stock size.
MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR INVESTIGATION. No dealership or service provider, when contacted, has ever been able to provide us with evidence to support this "myth," and in fact, our investigations have revealed that even authorized dealerships are simply speculating and do not have the test equipment necessary to know whether the sensor has failed or why.
Clean the Sensor. Place the sensor on a towel for cleaning. Apply the cleaner — 1015 blasts around the inside of the sensor will do. Also clean the sides of the part, its housing, its connectors, and its terminals. If you have a hot wire mass air flow sensor, make sure the cleaner doesn’t get onto the hot wires or plate.
When I search for a MAF (mass air flow) sensor on a parts website, I see some that are sold with the housing and some without. A mechanic gave me a quote that correlates pricewise with the full sensor + housing part. Is there any reason why I''d want to replace the housing (and not just the sensor) if the old one is not broken/cracked?
Feb 22, 2021· The mass airflow sensor is a key sensor in your car. Your car has a lot of sensors, and this is just one that helps your car run properly. That brings up the question of can your car run without the mass air flow sensor? In this article, we will look at what happens when you disconnect the mass airflow sensor.
The mass air flow (MAF) sensor measures the amount of air entering your vehicle’s engine. But over time, it may malfunction and supply inaccurate readings to your vehicle computer. One way to restore the proper airfuel ratio in your engine is by getting a mass air flow sensor replacement from
For most modern automobile engines, the mass air flow sensor is the most important electronic input for the onboard computer to make decisions about airfuel ratio. The sensor sits in the air induction system, usually right after the air filter. Using a heated wire or a vane meter, the sensor measures the rate and density of the air moving into ...
Aug 06, 2019· The mass airflow sensor (commonly abbreviated to MAF) is one of the most important engine management sensors. A bad mass airflow sensor can leave your Chevy Malibu’s engine running rough, or even inoperable.. A MAF sensor measures the density of the air entering the intake manifold.
The mass air flow (MAF) sensor, part of your vehicle’s electronic fuel injection system, is responsible for calculating the total amount of air entering the engine. A faulty MAF sensor can cause your vehicle to run too rich or run too lean. You’ll notice if the tailpipes eject black smoke or when the engine runs rough or backfires.
Nov 18, 2015· The mass air flow sensor is quite a complex little component of multiport fuel injection systems with a critical role in the performance of your engine. Not only does it …
Jun 08, 2020· A contaminated or failed mass air flow sensor cannot measure the amount of air flow correctly. This causes the engine computer to miscalculate the amount of injected fuel. As a result, a bad mass air flow sensor causes various driveability problems, including a nostart, stalling, lack of power and poor acceleration.

If you have a Vivaro, Primastar, or Trafic van and have no power at low RPM, general rough running, and have the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard, there are several things that you need to rule out to track down …
Check My Flow. A MAF sensor is usually placed inline immediately after the air filter, and takes a reading of how much air is entering the engine. It takes account of the air flow and converts it to an electrical signal sent to the ECU. The ECU sees this reading and adjusts the fuel volume that passes through the injectors.
Nov 23, 2016· no,you don''t need to mess with the PCM at all.. Thanks, dealer wanted to charge me 400 to replace MAF and then 110 to reflash PCM. I am opting to try it myself but wanted to make sure the PCM did not really need to be reflashed like they said because I can''t do that myself. In addition ..
